The Captain and the Compass is for university students in any year who want to go deeper with their emotions. Student life brings strong feelings, from pressure and excitement to homesickness and frustration, and this course treats them as information worth reading.
The course rests on one picture. Your life is a sailboat, your feelings are its compass, and you are the captain who learns to read it well. Emotional intelligence becomes five skills you practise on your own, again and again: noticing and naming emotions, examining your beliefs about them, reading them as data about your needs and values, regulating them, and expressing them in ways that build trust. You practise a regulation strategy that suits you for two weeks, and you learn to share a difficult emotion clearly.
You begin with My EQ Check-In and My Sailboat and My Ideal Captain, and My Emotion Logbook goes with you throughout. Later you take one real moment to My Emotion Regulation Wheel, name what you actually did with the emotion and choose a strategy for next time. Before a hard conversation you write My Sharing Statement, a four-part statement for sharing a difficult emotion. Every module has a Foundation Note and a reader, and there are two guided audio practices. You finish with My Emotional Intelligence Plan beside a second Check-In.
I suggest you begin with the first module, Gauge: The Captain and the Compass, and take My EQ Check-In before anything else. A free twenty-four-hour trial lets you try the whole course first. It stands on its own, and it pairs naturally with the emotions modules of Launchpad, SEL Catchup, PROSPER and SEARCH.
