From the founder: You Be In The Zone Too

InspireWell4Life editions: You Be … Too. By Dr Alten du Plessis, founder of LearnSmart4Life.

You Be In The Zone Too is for learners who perform when it counts: the exam, the oral, the presentation, the recital, the match. Its ideas come from sport psychology, and the page is clear that the same mental skills carry into any performance, a student's exam season included.

It treats the mental side of performing as something you can learn and practise, just like a physical skill. It helps you act from your highest intentions, keep steady work habits, build confidence, prepare well, simplify what feels complex and create the conditions for flow, where focus and enjoyment meet.

Inside are two PDFs, both with your name on every page: a printable deck of A4 cards and a matching ebook. The cards follow thirteen mental skills, among them Perform from Highest Intentions, Strong Work Ethic, Meaningful Practice, Quality Mental Preparation, Simplify Complexity and Flow State Management. Each card has a theme, a short description and an image on the front, and on the back a set of quotes from many voices and wisdom traditions, with room for your own notes. The ebook holds the same wisdom as a flowing book, to read on a tablet or phone or to print and bind.

The page suggests one mental skill a week, drawing one quote a day and applying it in practice, so I suggest you begin with the first skill, Perform from Highest Intentions. For the particular moment just ahead, Navigate Performance Pressure is its companion, organised around situations such as exams and presentations.
